Nick DiGiacomo is a co-founder of Vanno, and a career research scientist, technology executive and entrepreneur.
Prior to Vanno Nick was CEO of Sawyer Media Systems, a Sequoia Capital-backed digital media startup that was founded by renowned journalist Forrest Sawyer. He began his career as a research scientist at Los Alamos and CERN in Geneva, where he authored or co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications, and is best known in the academic community for his contributions to the physics of antimatter. He joined the business world as a senior associate of George A. Keyworth, science advisor to President Reagan and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Nick has held executive management positions at large technology companies, including Lockheed Martin(LMT) and Science Applications International (SAI), where he was a senior vice president in the parent company, CEO of Tenth Mountain Systems, Inc. (an SAI joint venture with Visa and MasterCard that developed the first electronic commerce security standards), and president of Global Integrity, Inc. (SAI’s information security subsidiary that developed the DOCSIS cable modem and the SDMI digital music standards). While vice president and general manager at Scient (SCNT), he built and ran the Electronic Markets business unit, and later was responsible for the company’s 1000+ creative, business strategy and technology professionals. Here he first met his future Vanno co-founder, Landon Clark.
Nick holds a PhD in physics from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a BS in physics from Siena College.
Landon Clark co-founded Vanno and oversees the day-to-day operations and the development of the site.
Prior to Vanno, he was vice president of technology for Trinity, now a part of WNS Global Services. There he led the development of core software systems, and helped clients define technology and business process integrations.
As Director of Software Development at Sawyer Media, he contributed to the development of a technology platform and media production tools that enabled the conversion, management and distribution of rich media programming over the Internet.
Previously, Landon was at Scient as an application architect for high profile financial services companies such as Barclays and First Union National Bank (now Wachovia), and ecommerce companies like Sephora.com, MVP.com. He would go on to help establish the company’s offices in Munich and would contribute to business development in both the USA and European markets. He met and worked with his Vanno co-founder, Nick DiGiacomo, Ph.D, while at Scient and they would work together again at Sawyer Media.
Landon holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York
Susan brings over 10 years of experience at leading software and e-business services companies to Vanno. Prior to Vanno, she was the executive assistant to the COO at Scient (SCNT) where she managed executive offices for one of the fastest growing Web services firm in history. Prior to Scient, Susan was the executive assistant to Marc Benioff at Oracle (ORCL), just prior to his founding of Salesforce.com (CRM). Susan's foundation in Web services and analytics began with her career at VoiceCom Systems, Inc. where she managed Quality Assurance for the operations team. Before VoiceCom, Susan worked at Merrill Lynch, Pegasus Aircraft Partners and CIS. Susan has completed studies at both the University of Nevada-Reno and University of Colorado.
